Today’s engagement session is for another traveling photographer who just happens to be one of my favorite cousins! Keri and I have always been adventure buddies. We’ve traveled the world together visiting Morocco, Spain and Portugal. I also stayed at her house when she was living in Hawaii and later in Sydney, Australia.
I was so excited when Keri met Kevin! The two of them are getting married this summer. He served for six years in the Air Force and will be attending film school in the fall. The two of them really, really love animals. They are even a part of their local animal shelter’s “Weekend Warrior” program. They get to host a dog from the shelter for a day or two to make sure they are all getting the love and attention (and exercise!) they need. Keri and Kevin are a pretty cool couple.
We photographed their engagement session at Tunnel Springs Park in Salt Lake City. This spot is right outside the downtown area, but you would never know it. The best time to shoot at this location is in June or early July when the grass is this vibrant green color. It is also lovely in the fall when the field turns more golden and cattails spring up everywhere. We planned their session to take advantage of my very favorite kind of lighting– the golden hour with a sunset glow.
Keri requested a fun, authentic engagement session so I captured the two of them playing around in a field and laughing together. These photos definitely delivered. I feel like I got real, natural smiles and unposed moments of the couple together. The two of them are fun to be around. Knowing my cousin so well also made it easy for me to help them feel comfortable in front of my camera. We had fun playing with unique composition. I captured shots from above, below, from the side and in motion. I love the variety and the way their love for each other really shines through.
Congratulations to the happy bride and groom-to-be!
