Today, let’s talk about DETAILS! They are an important part of any wedding to make your day feel beautiful and to showcase your personal style. This gorgeous wedding took place at the Olana in Hickory Creek, Texas just outside of Dallas. The Olana is an absolutely STUNNING French-inspired wedding venue that was built on a forty-acre estate complete with its own lake! You know I always love anything with a European style. The bride and groom wanted the ceremony to be held poolside. That may sound strange, but as you can see, the pool house was just as grand as the rest of the mansion!
The details of this wedding were some of the most beautiful I have ever photographed! From the jaw-dropping floral backdrop for the ceremony to the red and gold leaf adorned cake, every single design element was chosen with the utmost care. The wild grasses used throughout the floral installation gave it just the right touch of natural texture. They all worked together to contribute to the overall rich, elegant feel of this couple’s wedding day.
I most enjoyed creating the flay lay shots for this wedding. What is a flat lay? Essentially, it’s a group of objects not typically part of the overall ceremony or reception decor photographed on a flat surface. On a wedding day, I design the flat lays to showcase these special details and photograph them as part of the couple’s wedding gallery. I want them to remember all of those extra pieces they spent so much time choosing as part of their wedding story. I will include things like the rings, accessories, and wedding invitations.
If you are a bride-to-be, here are some things you may want to consider having ready for your photographer on your wedding day to make sure everything is captured beautifully: The wedding dress and any special or custom hangers, the veil, hairpiece, shoes, earrings and any other jewelry. You may want to include the perfume you wore as a bride, especially if it comes in a pretty bottle. Also gather any keepsakes or gifts you want to remember, such as handkerchiefs or anything significant adorning your bouquet.
For the groom, details you may want photographed include: The tie or bow tie, shoes, cologne, tie clips, cufflinks, watches, and any keepsakes including custom flasks or other gifts. It’s all part of the story of the day you married the one you love and your journey together began.
