Are you thinking about planning your elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah? The Salt Flats are a popular location for couples traveling from out of state, to say I do. In fact, I capture elopements and wedding photography at the Bonneville Salt Flats at least twice a month. Working with my couples in this unique climate to celebrate their union has allowed me to become skilled with the ins and outs of wedding photography at the Salt Flats. Including, how to capture the “dry look”, how to work with the climate during golden hour, curating my couple’s reflections in the most flattering way, and how to style and pose my couples in order to provide them with the most stunning photos of their wedding day.

For this elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats, my bride and groom flew in from California for their wedding. What was so unique about their session was that I worked with them at sunrise. Most elopement and wedding photography sessions at the Salt Flats typically happen during sunset. But, having the experience of frequently capturing elopements at the Salt Flats allows me the flexibility to schedule my couples at a time that works best for them. Additionally, working at sunrise as opposed to sunset gave us some freedom from the crowds that are typically attracted to the area.

Navigating the intricacies of planning your elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats can be tricky. Before you set a date, you’ll want to make sure your elopement will take place during the best season at the most optimal month. It will be crucial to avoid crowds, high tourism season, and other weddings that may be happening at the same time as yours. When I start working with my couples who are eloping at the Salt Flats, this is typically one of the first discussions we have. I love being able to offer them my expertise in a way that allows them to make the trip to the Salt Flats for their elopement, a once-in-a-lifetime event.

For the couple featured below, the glow of the morning sun on the day of their wedding was utter perfection. It gave the sessions a feeling of being wild and free. My adoring bride and groom weren’t afraid to kick off their shoes, wade through the puddles, and playfully splash one another. Each moment spent with them during their elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats was full of their adventurous spirit, woven with the fun, lighthearted emotions of their wedding day.

In particular, when planning your elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats, I always recommend one highly important component. A pop of color. For this particular couple, it was in the bride’s bouquet. She had a specific vision in mind for creating a purple wedding day bouquet. Her subtle color pop bouquet paired with her groom’s boutonniere added a layer of styling and emotion to their wedding day photos. Scroll through the photos below to see all the details.
