My home state is just bursting with the most amazing locations everywhere you turn! The engagement photos I am sharing today were taken at the Utah State Capitol Building. It’s such a beautiful, classy location for every type of session. There’s normally a line for all of the best spots, but we got lucky and had the whole place to ourselves!
Christy and Manny are a sweet, reserved couple. I loved getting to know the two of them. They met over a decade ago in junior high school and have two beautiful children together. The couple decided it was finally time to get married. I had the honor of photographing their wedding just a couple of weeks ago. It was such a beautiful day!
The time of day matters when shooting at the Utah State Capitol. The gardens behind the building have green trees and a beautiful fountain. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot. This spot looks its best in sunset light. We were also hoping to catch some of the cherry blossoms that bloom in the trees along the path surrounding the capitol. The blossoms only last a few short days every spring, and we just missed them! The new spring green leaves were so fresh and pretty as well though.
I’ve worked hard to really hone my artistic style throughout the past year. Bright, white and clean editing with creamy, glowing skin tones is the look I’ve always been drawn to. After lots of trial and error, I’ve finally found the style that inspires me creatively, and it is reflected in this session. The simplicity of these photos is timeless and allows the couple and their love to really shine.
