1. Guardsman Pass Engagement Pictures

Visiting Guardsman Pass

The flower fields at Guardsman Pass are in full bloom from late June to early August. When Guardsman Pass is alive, you can expect to see a stunning array of flower fields, including yellow buttercups, daisies, and alpine sunflowers. Creating an unforgettable backdrop for your Utah engagement pictures.

Scheduling Your Session

This location is popular not only due to the scenic beauty but also as a hiking location. If at all possible my recommendation would be to schedule your session during the early morning hours of a weekday. This will allow you flexibility with availability. Additionally, there will be fewer hikers and park visitors during this time. I highly recommend Guardsman Pass for engagement pictures, couples photos, and family photography. You can find more details on scheduling your session at Guardsman Pass at this link.

Fees | There are currently no fees associated with accessing Guardsman Pass.

Directions | Take Utah State Route 224 to Deer Valley Drive, heading east. Exit on Marsac Avenue at the roundabout, and then continue up Ontario Canyon. The road is free to access.

Parking | Parking is no longer allowed at the Bonanza Flat Conservation Area along the roadway by the “Y” intersection of Guardsman Pass Road and Pine Canyon Drive. Additionally, the gravel lot next to the open field is now off-limits to the public. However, you can park at Bonanza Flats Trailhead, Bloods Lake, and Empire Pass trailheads.

2. Albion Basin Engagement Pictures

The flower fields will be in full bloom, creating a stunning backdrop for your pictures in Utah. You can find more details on scheduling your photoshoot at Albion Basin through this link.

Parking | There is limited parking at Albion Basin, especially during the wildflower season. There is parking available in two dirt parking lots. Parking is also available at Alta Ski Resort. But parking there would require hiking up to the photo location.

3. Alpine Poppy Fields Family Pictures

Visiting Alpine Poppy Fields

One of the most vibrant and colorful flower fields in Utah to take pictures has to be the Alpine Poppy Fields. These gorgeous blooms, primarily located in Northern Utah are bursting with rich tones and quite unlike any other form of natural beauty you’ve ever seen.

Scheduling Your Session

Unlike other wildflower photo locations in Utah, the Alpine Poppy Fields bloom in late spring, not summer. The poppies begin to bloom in May and the sooner you can schedule your photoshoot, the better. As you can imagine, once the flowers are in full bloom, they become quite a tourist. I highly recommend Alpine Poppy Fields for family pictures. If you can manage to arrive before the crowds you’ll get to enjoy an unspoiled experience. To schedule your family photoshoot at the Alpine Poppy Fields, you can contact me here.

Fees | Accessing the field of poppies, along with the available parkin,g is completely free.

Directions | Begin at Alpine Main Street North through the roundabout to 100 S, turn right, and follow 100 S to a stop sign. Turn left on Alpine Boulevard. Continue driving for a few miles until you reach 1125 N Alpine Blvd (a church). Once in front of the church, turn right onto Country Manor Blvd. Once you pass the church parking lot, turn left onto a dirt road which will lead you to the Lambert Park parking lot.

Parking | Parking is available at the Lambert Park South Trailhead. From this location, you can expect to walk about 0.4 miles to view the poppy fields.

So any photo experience at Thanksgiving Point will require an advance reservation. You can still access the grounds for your wedding photos or engagement photos even if you are not getting married at the venue on site; however, keep in mind there will likely be foot traffic from museum-goers and other events.
